$25,000 donation to Folds of Honor is largest gift in Legends history
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends for Kids will make its largest gift in history Thursday at the Legends Banquet when it donates $25,000 to Folds of Honor.
The donation marks the beginning of a partnership between the two organizations. Folds of Honor will become a supporter and beneficiary of Legends for Kids.
Founded in 2007, the Folds of Honor Foundation is a 501C-3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. It has awarded nearly 20,000 educational scholarships. Folds of Honor is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and has chapters in 15 states.
“Folds of Honor is an outstanding organization, and we firmly believe in its mission to honor the sacrifices of our military members by supporting their families through education,” said Tim Stupka, co-founder of Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends. “We are excited to partner with Folds of Honor and look forward to seeing the life-changing impact this organization has on military families.”
The Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends program provides learning opportunity for young student-athletes to grow and be inspired in the world of sports by providing different sporting clinics and camps. Each year, celebrity athletes who represent the Legends goals—quality, integrity and character—are brought to Sioux Falls.
Celebrating 20 years in 2019, Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends has given back $2.1 million to area youth athletic programs and scholarships since 2005. Legends will fast track the Folds of Honor growth by capping Legends beneficiaries at $200,000 annually. This will allow all new proceeds to flow into Folds of Honor. This process is expected to complete 50/50 status in three-to-five years.
A chapter of Folds of Honor will be established in Sioux Falls. The closest chapters currently are Minneapolis and Kansas City.
