Butch Lumpkin - Golf
Butch Lumpkin is a one of a kind athlete. Born in Atlanta, he was a survivor of Thalidomide, which meant he conceived with no arms. But with much inspiration from his family and God, Butch has gone beyond the incredible. Butch attended Mercer University were he letter in both soccer and tennis. At the age of 13 Lumpkin had dreams of being a professional tennis player which later became a passion of his after graduating from college. He worked at the Horseshoe Bend Country Club as a grounds keeper which only drove him more to accomplish his dream. After earning his certification by the United States Professional Tennis Association, Butch became the pro at the country club.
While at the country club Lumpkin enjoyed the success he was having until someone challenged him to play golf saying it was impossible for a man like Butch to play. Impossible is not in Butch’s vocabulary. Showing up with a 63 inch driver Butch mastered the sport, and recently has even made a hole in one. The odds for an average golfer to hit a hole in one are 8000 to 1. Butch is currently in the midst of working on a book entitled Making a Difference is a Matter of Choice. He is an avid inspiration speaker, speaking to many people across the United States encouraging them to chase their dreams and goals.
