Jared Allen - Football
The 6-6 265 pound defensive end is nothing short of great. At the age of eight Jared dreamt of being in the NFL. In high school he was Los Gatos High School’s most valuable player with 96 tackles and 12 sacks in his senior year. After graduating from Los Gatos High School he went to Idaho State University and the defensive end was name All Big Sky Conference all four years he was there. He was the first player ever from his division to receive the Buck Buchanan award which is awarded to the top defensive player in the nation.
In 2004 Allen was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round. Quickly gaining a starting position in his sixth game as a rookie Allen recorded a team high nine sacks. Four years into the NFL Jared combined 43 sacks with a league leading 15 in 2008. Also in 2007 Allen was selected to his first pro bowl after leading the league in sacks with 15.5, and also earned his All-Pro honors.
In 2008, Allen’s first year with the Minnesota Vikings, he led the team with 14.5 sacks, and led the team to a division title and a birth in the playoffs. This year Allen ended the season with 43 tackles, 8 assisted, and 14.5 sacks for the second straight year. He once again helped the Vikings to a division title, their best record since 1998. Allen saw his team reach the NFC championship game before losing to the New Orleans Saints. A week later he was invited and played in his third straight Pro Bowl game in Miami.
